One of my earliest start for a wedding day yet! I woke up bright and early at 2:00AM so we can try to catch the sunrise for the wedding ceremony at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Lucky I have some practice with early starts from my days of working retail during the holiday season. We didn’t quite make it but the ceremony and the celebration of these two wonderful couples was still beautiful. I especially loved the moment when groom, Lyndon took off a copper bracelet off of Brandy’s wrist. As Brandy explained later, she has worn that bracelet in solidarity with the women she worked with abroad and it is only taken off when the women wearing it gets married. She’s been wearing it for 10 years!! I’m so happy for both of them!
We went all around the tidal basin for our portraits and finally wrapped up the reception at Georgia Browns in Washington DC. As early as we started, you would think the tidal basin and National Mall should have been relatively empty, but to our surprise a bus load of National Geographic photographers were running around taking photos also. I heard some snapping behind me as I was photographing the couple so I might have to check the magazine to see if there are any photos of me working…lol! Enjoy the photos!
